Mission

The mission of SecondProject is to create an online community in which designers of green innovation and managers developing small to large scale green projects can network to create solutions for green projects. These projects could be anything from retrofitting a car for bio-diesel to designing a green housing development. Our goal is to provide two things: 1) a community in which project managers can profile their projects to receive community feedback and designers can profile their own skills and work in order to network, and 2) a system through which project managers can run contests to receive design solutions for specific components of their projects. The managers will offer a reasonable prize and the necessary information, and designers will submit their best design solutions, according to the information provided, in order to compete for the prize. With these two components (the community and the contests), our mission is to create the go-to site for green development and innovation.

SecondProject is an online green design marketplace / crowd-sourcing platform, that allows members to:

Subscribing to R8aPl8 and upgrading to a GOLD account for $25 allow a member to add a description of their plate. Why would someone pay $25 to add a description of their plate? The mission of Land-the-part is to create an online community where aspiring actors and musicians can a profile and showcase audition videos. Audition videos will be rated and commented on by the community members. Land-the-Part is intended to be valid resource for actors and musicians to learn and improve their craft.

This can simply be a field for members to add emails to, but ideally I’d like to see if there is a plugin available that has been developed to “send to a friend” option. I have seen this for posts.

USA Dance Los Angeles is a non-profit ballroom organization dedicated to promoting and raising awareness about ballroom dance. We currently have about 500 members (mostly social dancers) and are growing. We are a sub- chapter of the national organization USA Dance which servers as the national governing body for ballroom dancing and DanceSport, the competitive version of ballroom dancing in the United States.
Our primary activity is throwing social ballroom dances, about every 6 weeks. Our dances usually attract between 200-300 people. We have members of all ages, but most members are probably between 40-60 years old. We charge admission at our dances and our members receive a discount. Each dance features an instructor/professional dancer from the Los Angeles area who teaches us a free lesson. We currently have an ongoing relationship with a couple of pros from Dancing with the Stars who have taught at our dances a few times.
About once a year we organize a large dance showcase which is an opportunity for our members and other ballroom dancers in LA to perform either as amateur couples or pro-am (student dancing with instructor). There are also group performances and pro-pro numbers. Our next dance showcase is on October 17.
We also have an ongoing community service program we call “Senior Outreach” where our members visit senior assisted-living centers and perform for them.
We also sponsor programs to teach ballroom dance to underprivileged youths at schools and community centers around L.A.
